But I do know that gul is Yellow in Swedish. So for the short story it is a Yellow Gooseberry. That is what is best grown here in Canada. I hope that helps !!!!!! I bet you can almost smell those gooseberries. I have just bought another one to, a Finnish variety called "hinnonmaki gul" means nothing to me at all but the reviews on it are good, so I am game on for another one now that I have more space.GardenerXhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16536936827475488503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4575484106610103610.post-4967670925301601112011-03-28T03:59:54.978+01:002011-03-28T03:59:54.978+01:00I checked with our gardening centre yesterday and ...I checked with our gardening centre yesterday and they will be bringing a few plants in a couple of weeks. At least here in Canada they feel out of favour with the general population so it is not seen much any more. At least a person can still by a plant, but rarely do they have more than a couple at any store, worse usually in poor condition.reghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01797023544562477324noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4575484106610103610.post-68654955338860781402011-03-09T20:24:07.871+00:002011-03-09T20:24:07.871+00:00gooseberries are a great. My green one is lovely off the bush (or it was this year anyway) the red one didnt do to well, they were small and tart but they should be a desert type. I think the problem was not enough water as it is in a pot and got very large, too large in fact. good luck with mead and wine making then, when you get the produce.GardenerXhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16536936827475488503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4575484106610103610.post-29079447289477486792011-03-09T06:24:30.733+00:002011-03-09T06:24:30.733+00:00I have now got my gooseberry bush in the back gard...I have now got my gooseberry bush in the back garden. It is a red variety I beleive but not sure of its name. The berry's it produces are a lot sweeter than the green ones my dad grows. Either way they both produce good jam and I may make a gooseberry wine or mead!Morlock5Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10243915692553237454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4575484106610103610.post-38189041942382266322011-02-28T19:02:17.778+00:002011-02-28T19:02:17.778+00:00cheers , the parent that these cuttings came from ...cheers , the parent that these cuttings came from is quite big now and in a pot. so that is going to the lottie to, It is one called Red desert but I also have a green one and that is going to the lottie as well as it is also getting to big for the potGardenerXhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16536936827475488503noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4575484106610103610.post-35239748602647433722011-02-27T23:13:07.473+00:002011-02-27T23:13:07.473+00:00Looking good.
