bees on the hive entrance 22nd April 2011

A shot of Apis Melifera "Yorkshire" IE Mongrel going in to my hive at my apiary. This is the strongest of the two that went in to Winter. the other one I believe the queen has failed due to a distinct lack of brood. A shame but that is the natural circle of life and what I am now left with is survivors or the best of the rest.

  2. This hive is steaming ahead. I am really proud of it. Every time I go and have a look at it there are always so many bees trying to get in. It is great to just sit there and watch all the activity. I still have the small entrance in but it does seem to be slowing them down so I am going to leave it in.

  3. Nice one. My missus thinks I'm mad but I can't wait to just sit and watch them buzzing in and out

  4. LMAO... I can see where she is coming from but I cannot find the words to explain that watching bees coming and going from the hive entrance is just plain tranquil and relaxing and until you have done it, it is great. there is also the side issue of being able to tells whats going on inside the hive to and it is a good indicator of general hive health to.
