Lovage - Whats it good for? Levisticum officinale

I have had the herb Lovage in my garden for nearly three year now and I still dont know what it is good for or it's uses!

I have consulted my copy of Culpeppers complete herbal and read one or two websites and apparently an infusion of the root is good for urinary problems and half a drachm of powdered root in wine warms a cold stomach. I have no idea what a drachm is and I think the wine alone would warm my stomach. Below is my cherished plant and it does look nice, I may be moving it next year though and replacing it with some thing more productive.

  1. I've never grown lovage and I don't know anything about it, but your plant looks nice and healthy.

  2. As a plant I think it looks great (as last year it was overshadowed by an Angelica plant that has not died off) but I dont have a lot of space in my garden at home so I keep thinking can I put some thing there more productive and if so what?
