This is the patch after being raided
This is the produce.
An hour or two later and this is the result....
And the inside looks like this.... Makes gardening worth it.
I cheated a little, I added some raisins, prunes and dates and It was awesome! I think this shot does the pie justice and I can tell you it tasted so much better than that.

Nice pie, I had used up the last of my rhubarb from last year the other day. Now to enjoy this years harvest in a couple of weeks. I never thought of using raisins and prunes in this way I must try it. I always did the apple or strawberries as a filler.
ReplyDeleteI fully recommend the raisins, prunes and dates, they taste great. Funny thing is I never thought about strawberries or apple with rhubarb. I will have to try that. Mum does apples and blackberry pie which is great but thats another story.
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious. My rhubarb isn't quite ready yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteit is. had 3 slices and my girlfriend doesnt like rhubarb pie!!!! so took the rest to work and got the thumbs up. Cant eat it all. gotta watch the figure!
ReplyDeletehaha, but when making something like that pie who cares about the figure. Just jog a whole lot more!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL. I felt so podged over the weekend, I can tell you. Also made an egg custard pie from goose eggs. It tasted excellent.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I've never had rhubarb pie. I've never even had rhubarb. I'm growing some now though. They're just tiny little plants. I'm hoping that they'll push through in all this heat down here. Great looking pie :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the Rhubarb Kalena, If you have justed planted your seeds, you will most likely get rhubarb next year now. It is delicious.
ReplyDeleteI have never had goose eggs except when I got into a fight with a bunch of Americans in Amsterdam years ago.
