Red Haven Peach produces in third year!!!

The title is a little bit over the top. I have two small peaches appearing so far. (I counted 5 flowers a month or so back). this is the first time any fruit has appeared on the tree since purchase (acquired from either aldi or lidl)

The peach is a red haven and is still in a 15litre ex paint bucket. It is kept very well watered and this is a picture of a baby red haven peach

This next shot is of the family frog. Last year we had two in the half barrel pond in the back garden, so far this year we only have one (and no frog spawn seen earlier in the year either) but there is always next year.

The strawberry plants are all in flower. In the rear garden I have some June bearers and a perpetual (or ever bearer) called Albion. This is a shot of Albion. In the front garden there is also the June bearers growing, the ones at the front only get sun till 11am in the morning but these are also in flower and produce nice strawberries. My short guide here on staking strawberry runners

Bugle grows very well indeed

Last year I had some Bugle "ajuga reptans" growing in the front garden. I noticed how well and quickly it grew, so I put some round the rather barren area of my compost bin. Nothing seemed to grow there except bits of grass. It is very shaded, so I didnt know how well the bugle would grow. As it happens I need not have worried

The below shot was 2 plants last year!!!! WOW and BLIMEY are two words that spring to mind

So I has planted some in front of my greenhouse door as I want a plant carpet there, There are 7 or 8 plants here

At the moment I am also in the process of taking strawberry runners and potting them up... for more strawberry plants. This variety is Albion and it is a very prolific runner creator

Weather in Wakefield, England today. Cool but not cold, has looked like rain this evening but none so far. No wind. Great day really

New kiwi seeds have arrived

2 packets of kiwi seeds arrived today that I bought plus an extra free one. Actinidia Melandra (or melanandra as some sites refer to this variety) and Actinidia kolomikta and the free packet Mini Lobata Jungle Queen. I have no idea what the last packet is. The seeds were purchased from an American nursery that posts to England

I do not have great hopes for the seeds but will plant them and see how I go. kiwi seed can be a little sporadic on the germination front and there is 10 seeds per packet. Fingers crossed anyway

I have finally planted out my albion strawberry plants to in to a square ish shape

The kiwano seedlings are growing very well. not sure though if they were started to late in the season, time till tell

Weather report - mostly rain all day, Wakefield, England

Strawberry heaven, unknown variety and Albion variety

I have high hopes for a good strawberry crop this year. I have had a good strawberry crop for the last 3 years so it can only get better.

The plants above are three years old and a June bearing variety. I dont know the exact one but I think possibly Cambridge vigour or Cambridge favourite. A friend at work gave me some runners and since then I have had hundreds of plants from them. They generally provide strawberries throughout June to early July.

These are new ones and flowering already.... Awesome. The variety is Albion and I purchased 20 bear rooted plants a couple of months back from Ebay at I think £8 inc delivery. These are an ever bearing variety. They should fruit through out the Summer not just June. They have started producing flowers but I keep nipping them out to strengthen the plant. They need to be in the ground sooner rather than later. I also have two other varieties of strawberries.
