fruit salad

Havent posted for a while but here goes...

This is the Malus Jonagold apple tree. It is still in the 15litre ex paint pot and has 20plus apples on it and stands at no more than I guess 4 foot. I am very happy with it as long as the apples develop to full size, the soil is always moist and i have been feeding it bone, blood and fish meal

My grape vine is romping away (unknown variety), this is planted in an old flower bucket from a supermarket. It has 3 bunches on it that were nipped out earlier on in the year so there were not to many grapes in each bunch. I have also cleared away any foliage that covered the bunches so they get maximum exposure to sun. I am also growing two branches out. one on either side on to wires, which are hard to see here

The raspberries have been doing very well this month. I have had loads of fruit from my bucket of rasps and the front garden, the plants are still yielding fruit

Tatties, rasps and chokes

The Jerusalem Artichokes are growing quickly now as you can see by the shot. They have grown very quickly. Last year I enjoyed them sautéed but I got a bad dose of the  botty birps ;-) no what I mean, I am looking forward to eating them again though

The raspberry bush is growing well too. the raspberries are plumping up and I am looking forward to eating them. This variety is Jonkheer van tets

The pot with the spud in has gone berserk. I do not know the variety and it just sprouted in the bucket. not even sure how it got in there to start with. It will be interesting to see what the spuds are like, if any

Love is in the air

To say I do not like Lovage as I just find it does not have a purpose. Lovage seems to like my garden as it is now standing at nearly 6ft tall. I wish all my plant experiences were this successful. It is grown in a semi shaded spot getting sun only in a morning, not bad really

This is another one of my many mints. Ginger mint. it has yellow variegated leaves, I had trouble last year keeping the leaves variegated but I found keeping it in the shade kept the yellowness in the leaf

The comfrey is still in the pot and is unlikely to ever get out of it at this rate, in my opinion it is not growing to its full potential in the pot and seems to only be surviving. I have comfrey growing at my Fathers and that plant is in full blossom

On a final note. a little but of raspberry blossom, this is one of the plants in the tub

Raspberries - Glen Ample - In a bucket or not

The rasps are coming on great guns. I have two lots, both are the variety Glen Ample, one lot is in a bucket pictured below and did not get cut back last year as they did not fruit. They are full of bud which is awesome and new shoots are coming up from the bottom

Below is the second spot with rasps in. These did fruit on all canes last year and so got cut back to the ground, well 6 inches anyway. They are very much alive and growing quickly, but no bud. There are also lots of new shoots appearing from the ground in true raspberry fashion.

Just a quick shot of the rhubarb patch. Awesome is the word and the word is Awesome. I am very proud of my little piece of England. Its needs some manure though. That is a job for the coming weeks to make sure it stays in pristine condition

Last couple of days in Yorkshire have been beautiful sunny days and all plants are growing well.

Raspberries in flower - Glen Ample

My raspberries are just starting to flower not bad for 30th April. These are a patch that I have in a bucket, well actually an old kitchen bin, but it works well with holes in the bottom.
 

This is my pot of green sage, I think I have some tricolour sage in the greenhouse which is also doing equally well. I have found I must put my sage plants in the greenhouse to over winter otherwise they die off.

Sage is great for adding to home made sausage rolls.

Rasps are spreading out "Glen Ample"

I have 5 or 6 raspberry canes planted in the front garden (this will be there 2nd fully established year). They are starting to grow and starting to spread. Now they are spreading out I kinda think I should not have put them in the middle of the garden at the front and more to one side. I might possibly move them next Winter. They get Sun in the morning only but still produced a few raspberries last year and they were very nice
